QBE traces its origins back to The North Queensland Insurance Company Ltd. founded in Australia in 1886. Later, a number of agencies were established in the United Kingdom, Asia and the Pacific - including Singapore in 1889, Malaysia in 1905 and Indonesia in 1906.
In 1973, QBE Insurance Ltd evolved from the successful merger of the Queensland Insurance Co. Ltd, Bankers and Traders Insurance Co. Ltd and the Equitable Life and General Insurance Co. Ltd.
In the years that followed, QBE embarked on a new path of growth, nationally and internationally, creating one of the great success stories in corporate Australia. Today, QBE Group has offices in over 40 countries and the ultimate parent company is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
