The company began its operation as Hua Sieng Co., Ltd. since June 26, 1946 . On June 19, 1952 , company was renamed and became well known as The Sri Muang Insurance Co., Ltd. until present. The Sri Muang Insurance started its operation with Fire and Marine insurance when the company was first established. The company was then acquired Motor insurance license in 1953 and Miscellaneous insurance in 1975

The company has made its firm step toward business expansion through joint venturing with Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., the largest and oldest non life insurance company in Japan , and The Dowa Fire and Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. in 1971.

With the aim to improve and strengthen the operation standards and corporate governance, Millea Asia Pte. Ltd., the regional headquarter of the Group companies, was established in December 1, 2002 . The role of Millea Asia is to support, monitor and supervise the Millea Group Companies in Asia region.

Sri Muang Insurance has enjoyed continuous growth under the efficient management of Tokio Marine and Nichido close monitor and supervision of Millea Asia. Tokio Marine and Nichido has been rated highest among Japanese Financial Institutions by international rating agencies such as Standard & Poor's(AA-) and Moody's (Aa2) and JCR (AAA). As at April 2005.

The Sri Muang Insurance, as a joint venture of Tokio Marine and Nichido Insurance, a member of Millea Group, is committed to contribute to economic development and an affluent and comfortable Thai society by providing safety and security through insurance services.
